We are a really ordinary bunch of people who love what we do! We love Jesus and have experienced the life and transformation he brings. We are passionate about giving others the opportunity to experience that too! It’s our privilege and honour to serve on team here and we are excited about what God has in store for this church and the people who walk through its doors.
Interim Senior Pastor
Greg joined the York St team in mid November 2017 as our Interim Senior Pastor with the expectation of being with us for around 12months while we look ahead to the appointment of our next Senior Pastor.
Greg is married to his beautiful wife Jenny, has 3 grown up children and 4 magnificent grand-children.
He has always lived in the Geelong region apart from 1 year living in the USA in 1996. He and Jenny built the home in which they now live in Barwon Heads, conveniently within 20 minutes drive of all their family.
Greg comes to us with 26 years of being a Senior Pastor and has settled quickly into our church family. He and Jenny both love travelling and keeping fit, Greg is a keen runner and loves all sports including being a passionate fisherman. Greg is also a musician who loves to worship using a piano and giving praise to his awesome God.
Greg and Jenny are also avid Geelong Cats fans, always buoyant about their team’s endeavors.
Children’s Ministry Co-ordinator
Jenny has been attending York Street since 2003. She joined the staff in 2017 as an intern in children’s ministry and is continuing on as Children’s Ministry Co-ordinator. Jenny coordinated our MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) program for four years and still remains on team, which she loves. She is currently studying Children’s Ministry through Stirling Bible College and also has a Primary School teaching degree. She is passionate about teaching children who God is and allowing them to explore and experience God for themselves, discovering how much he loves and cares for them.
She is married to Scott who is a baker, and they have three amazing boys who keep her very busy and teach her all sorts of new things about technology and sports. When she finds free time she loves catching up with friends, having play dates and connecting with other mums, reading, movies and chocolate.
Andrea joined the staff team in 2015. Originally a primary school teacher, she then completed an Assoc Dip of Theology at the Bible College of SA. She has worked in Schools Ministry leadership positions with Scripture Union (SA) and Access Ministries (VIC), run a home based business and had a stint in retail.
She is married to Darren and they have two gorgeous boys…one now taller than her! She’s passionate about honouring God and making her life count, inspired by Micah 6:8 and is always seeking to develop and do things more intentionally. She’s a reluctant early morning gym go-er, ‘real’ coffee is necessary before work, worship music speaks to her soul, inspiring books organised by spine colour line her bookshelves, letters from her sponsor kids make her smile, and she loves to organise anything!
Associate Pastor Families
Originally from the UK, Colette is well suited to the Ballarat climate! Her favourite season is autumn which sees Ballarat at its finest. Walking the lake and catching up with people for a coffee makes it even better. She and her husband Greg, a Sydney boy, made a tree change in 2012 and love the lack of traffic and wonderful lifestyle here. They have two adult children, a son-in-law and wish their little granddaughter lived closer.
Colette worked for many years as a primary school teacher in Melbourne before moving into Children and Families Ministry in 2009. She joined York Street in 2012 and completed an MA at ACOM (Australian College of Ministries) in 2016. Colette loves working with, and for, the local church. Her desire is to daily grow closer to Jesus and to see others do the same, loving as Jesus loved so that others may be drawn in to a life-giving relationship with him.
Josie has been in her role as Operations Administrator since Oct 2017. Josie has a background in health insurance administration and worked for Australian Christian Churches as PA to the Senior Pastor at Life Christian Church as well as managing payroll/financial/administration in the church office for many years prior to branching out and working alongside her husband Marcel in their own business. Her role at York St involves managing the business aspect of church life and making sure that the way we use our resources align with the church vision.
Josie and her husband Marcel have been part of the York St family since early 2016 and have fitted right in to the vision of the church by getting involved in different areas. Both Josie and Marcel’s heart is to serve in the local church and helping others to have a living relationship with Jesus.
Music and Creative Ministries / Administration Assistant
Angela moved to Australia from Canada with hubby Leigh in 2011. She is mother of twin boys Levi and Malakai, and daughter Aliyah. Ange has enjoyed serving in the Worship and Creative Ministries role since 2012 (off and with maternity leave) and is passionate about training, releasing and encouraging people to honour God with their lives as an act of worship to him. Ange loves using music and visual art to help people engage in their relationship with Jesus, to grow in faith, and be reminded of His love for them.
Her hobbies include baking, painting, writing, drinking coffee, and most of all enjoying the company of friends and family over delicious (and often international) cuisine.
Rhys has been attending York Street since 2011, and first joined the youth leadership team in 2012. In 2014, he completed a youth internship here at York Street, while preparing for a November wedding with now wife, Emily. After a short move to Geelong Rhys and Emily returned to Ballarat at the beginning of 2017, with Rhys immediately getting back into work with the youth ministry. He is passionate about seeing young people have real encounters with God and loves to ask the questions “how come” and “why not” as he works alongside the youth team to help young people develop their own personal faith. He enjoys looking for the latest music, playing FIFA on the Xbox, taking photos, and is currently studying a BTh through Stirling Theological College.
