Hi and welcome to York Street!
No matter who you are or where you are from you are welcome here! You matter to God and you matter to us.
We are a community of real people who don’t have it all together, but who believe there is a God who points the way to an authentic, full and abundant life.
We are a church for anyone who wants to take a step forward in the adventure of faith, whether you are not yet sure if God exists or have been following Jesus for a lifetime.
So, if you’re new to church, looking for a church home, or want to know more about returning to faith in Jesus, we’re here for you. If you are planning a visit, here are some things you might like to know:-
» Church Service Times
8.45am – For those who like an early start, and who prefer a more traditional style of music.
10.30am – Meaningful contemporary worship. Our Yorkie Kids and year 7 and 8 programs run during this service.
6.00pm – This service is particularly popular with our youth and young adults.
Our services include practical teaching that connects the words of the Bible to everyday life and music that is lively and engaging (fuller bands at 10.30am and 6pm services). Communion and prayer are also included in most services. Our services are usually about 75-90 mins in length.
If you have children they can participate in our fun and safe Yorkie Kids program during our 10.30am service. You can check in at our Yorkie Kids table in the foyer. We will ask you for the following personal information:-
Your child’s name, address, date of birth, school year level and any special instructions for your child (eg. allergies, special needs etc). We will also ask for parent/guardian names, contact phone and email.
The kids start with us all in our main service, and then go out to their special program from there.
» Welcome Team
You’ll be greeted by our friendly welcome team. If you have any questions they will be happy to help. Look for the people wearing the welcome team lanyards.
» Can I attend if ____________?
Fill in the blank with whatever fear you have about not being accepted. And the answer is YES, ABSOLUTELY, everyone is welcome at York Street. As a safe place, every colour, every shape, every personality and people with every kind of story imaginable are welcome here. So come as you are and we’ll see you on Sunday!
» What happens after the service?
You might like to allow yourself a few extra minutes after the service to have a cuppa and chat. You are a very important person to us! We’d love to meet you and answer any questions you may have. So please let us know it’s your first time here!
We care about you not what you are wearing…some dress up and some come in casual attire. We invite you to come just as you are. What matters is that you are here.
We have easy off-street parking. There is a guest park waiting for you in our car park off York Street. Additional parking is off Joseph Street at the rear of the building.
“My life has completely changed for the better since coming to York Street. I don’t know where I’d be if it wasn’t for the love shown to me through the people here”.Adam
“I came to York Street shortly after a number of years away from church. York Street has been a safe and supportive environment to develop and grow in my faith”.Monica
“York Street is a church where all members of the family can grow. Our 10 year old loves Yorkie Kids during the 10.30am service. Our two teenagers can’t wait for Converge Youth on Friday nights. And our 20 year old is involved with a young adult Bible study group and 6pm service”.Leonie
“I have lots of reasons to call Yorkie home. My parents were married here. My wife and I were married here too. 75% of my grandparents had their funerals here as well! At one stage, our family had 4 generations worshipping together. We value our historical connection, but we stay for the fellowship and teaching”David
